Half the world's population menstruates every month for 50 years of their lives, but menstruation is taboo in many cultures.

In Wuhan hospitals in the early days of the pandemic, medical staff had to wear each suit for more than eight hours due to a shortage of protective suits. Female health care workers have to fight against blood seeping into their clothes during their periods. When a charity wants to donate some sanitary pads to a hospital that can be used for a long time, many male staff who receive donation calls have said "we don't need them".

Why are the things that women take for granted so often ignored? Women are as silent as elephants, as patient as elephants. These neglected basic physiological needs are as invisible as the red elephant in the room.
